In order to obtain and/or maintain a Golf Link number and a Golf Australia Handicap a player must be financial to an affiliated club of Golf Link.
This said, a Golf Link number once created, is not deleted. Therefore a Golf Link number can 'lapse' for any duration, then be activated at any time there after. The player will proceed with the standing G.A Handicap of the lapsed handicap history.
NB: The player may also wish to apply for a reassessment of their handicap with the newly financial golf club - if a long duration absent for the game ensues
The player may also consider joining a social golf club,
A social golf club is usually a group of players, ran by a handful of people, playing at different golf clubs, rather than one physical club and golf course. This said, some physical gold clubs do offer social memberships amongst normal playing memberships.
Social golf clubs can also just be virtual - giving the option for players to play in competitions with a GA Handicap and not bound to the payments required for full playing membership. Social golf clubs charge a modest and competitive annual fee in order to maintain a Golf Link number and handicap. In most cases, player pay a green fee wherever they choose to play. Social golf clubs are best found by internet searches OR speaking with your local golf club.
